# Mixed pallets and parcels with full traceability

In a parcel hub, the next box is rarely the same size as the last one. In a warehouse, one order can mix dozens of product codes. And in both places, every item has to be possible to trace afterwards.

## Up to six pallets at the same time

The OpiFlex cell is placed between two existing conveyors and builds up to six pallets or cages at once, for different orders or freight routes. Each item is identified by vision or by data from the conveyor: size, weight and order. Our 3D Tetris algorithm then decides where it goes, and pallets are assigned dynamically. The robot checks the item's ID before it picks, and every placement is stored in the track and trace system.

## Compact, stable mixed pallets

One example order held 1,439 items across 65 product codes, with between 1 and 40 of each. The cell built compact, stable pallets with interlocked layers.

We tested AI for this 3D Tetris optimisation, but it was too sensitive to the training data. So the solution we use is fully deterministic, with no AI and no training. On pallets, fill rates go up to the high 90s %. That matters more now that the EU packaging regulation, PPWR, includes a requirement that empty space stays below 50 %.

## Sealed before it leaves

High-value goods are sometimes reported as not delivered. When that happens, the question is where the item went missing.

With our patented safety grippers to PLd, every item is tracked at parcel level and reported to the MES or WMS: ID, position on the pallet and time. When the pallet or cage is full, it is sealed while the safety system monitors it. If someone enters before the sealing is done, the robot stops.

## Fits into the flow you have

The cell is fenceless and mobile, so it fits between existing conveyors. It works with AGVs from Toyota Material Handling: the AGV takes the finished pallet away and brings a new one. The same platform can also convert EUR pallets to sea pallets.

## Start from your orders

How a cell performs depends a lot on the order structure. That is why we like to start with an example order or a week of order data, and hear how the flow works today. [Contact us](https://www.opiflex.se/en/contact/).
