# From EUR pallet to sea pallet

Updated at: 14 October 2026

Goods arrive on EUR pallets and leave on sea pallets. In between, someone moves every box by hand.

For exporters and logistics companies this is a familiar job. Done by hand it is costly, labour intensive and hard on the people doing it, and track and trace is easily lost on the way. The need itself is easy to describe: move each item from one pallet format to another, quickly, and know afterwards exactly where every item ended up.

## One compact cell, any direction

Our solution de-palletises and palletises fast, in one compact cell. It handles third pallets, half pallets, EUR pallets, sea pallets and long pallets, in any direction. If there is a machine between the two steps, the same idea works as two compact cells with the machine between them.

The cell has our patented fenceless safety. People and the robot never share the work area at the same time, and the safety zones adapt as the robot works. Without a fixed fence around it, the cell needs only a small floor area.

## Grippers that keep hold

The items are handled by our patented safety grippers, rated to PLd. They are designed not to drop the part if air or power is lost. People, robot, platform, gripper and parts are monitored according to EN ISO 10218-2, PLd Category 3.

The cell gives full track and trace of every item it handles. For a logistics flow, that means the pallet change stops being the step where information can disappear.

## When a cell like this makes sense

If a single pallet flow runs at the same high volume all year, a fixed line built for that flow can be the right choice. It is designed to do one job well, and it does.

Where formats and volumes vary, and the pallet change is only needed part of the time, the picture changes. There, a robot that can be moved earns more of its hours. The cell is moved with a pallet truck, manually or by AGV, and the same platform can be used for other jobs, such as dynamic mixed pallets or parcel palletising with up to six pallets or cages at a time.

Whether it pays off in your flow depends on your volumes and your formats. That is something we calculate with your own figures, in our production economics model validated by Chalmers University of Technology.

## Start with your pallets

We would like to hear how your flow looks first: which formats come in, which go out, and roughly how many pallets a day. A photo of a typical inbound pallet tells us a lot. [Get in touch](https://www.opiflex.se/en/contact/) and we can see together whether a cell would fit.
